That was a little over 9 months ago. 278 days to be exact. It was also the last time I wrote a blog post. Geez. Writer’s block, much?
No…not so much. Well at times, perhaps, I may have been able to blame my silence on writer’s block. But this time around, the culprit was far greater than that dirty two-word phrase. This time it was…wait…I don’t quite have a name for it. Gosh—talk about anticlimactic…
This time it was due to some major life changes taking place: I was (am) expecting.
Yep, ladies and gentlemen, I am going to be a mom.
And for various reasons (too many to name at this point), I had a difficult time communicating about that, in general. I’ve always been a private person (so I’ve been described, hmph) but my pregnancy has revealed depths of my private nature that were even new to me! It was (is) all quite fascinating, actually…yet content for another post lest I lose sight of the purpose of this one (assuming there is a purpose, which remains to be seen. LOL).
NOW
On the eve of my due date (yeah, you read that right; I’m due tomorrow, 9/16), I figured now was as good of a time as any to get back in the writing saddle. And yes, I’m fully aware that, given the demands of a newborn, it may very well be another 278 days until my next blog post but no matter; I forge ahead! (*smile*)
Suffice it to say, a LOT has transpired in the past nine months. I’ve faced new situations in my marriage, my career, my family, and my friendships. I’ve made some big decisions and, yet, there are more on the horizon. I’ve faced some fears and I’ve acknowledged (but not yet tackled) others. Incidentally, it is amazing that one tiny little (yet to arrive) person can affect so much change in such a short period of time.
I count it all a joy, however. All. Joy. I’m blessed more than words can adequately describe at this moment—yes, content for yet another post but one day I do indeed hope to share our full story. As I patiently (or not so patiently) wait for Baby Pope to arrive, I am humbled by the honor and privilege of becoming a steward over a little life. We welcome all thoughts and prayers for a smooth, safe delivery and a wonderfully healthy baby.
On that note, I’ll sign off from this incredibly random, scatter-brained post with two things:
- Fun Fact: we don’t know the sex (a surprise to most people who know me since I am an over-the-top, bat ish cray-cray planner)
- A few (rare) pics!
