I get it. The title of this post is not really original. Sue me. I’m averaging about 14 hours a day working; 5 hours a night sleeping. Not a great ratio. But it’s par for the course. Might I add what an “interesting” course it has been thus far?
Too much to write. Suffice it to say, however, that the past three weeks have been a series of ups and downs. Small victories followed by “oh-my-gosh-the-sky-is-falling-and-my-world-is-ending-because-I’ve-identified-yet another-thing-I don’t-know” melodrama. Am I being dramatic? A tad. I’m a Grace, after all; that’s what we do.
Ok…let me stop joshing…
Obviously, given my current transition, there are a ton of things upon which I could reflect. As I alluded to in a previous post, however, I find that I’m more cautious about what I share right now. There are multiple reasons for my reticence. Eventually, I will reconcile the struggle between my natural lean towards transparency and my trained position of privacy. In the meantime, this notion of tension has been a central theme for me in the new gig:
- Leading vs. Managing
- Generalist vs. Technician
- Directing vs. Doing
- Strategy vs. Execution
…and a few others for sure.
A lot of incoherent gibberish above. Here are a few a solid take-aways:
- I’m learning daily
- Every 24 hours = a new adventure (I really do feel like I’m living a “Choose Your Own Adventure” book)
- I continue to surprise myself (in a good way, of course)
We have two busy weekends coming up; three busy weeks (the entire month of July, frankly). Not sure if/when I’ll be able to unpack this more (if at all). Plus, there are so many things about which I want to write…not a lot of time to revisit topics. Sooooooo, let’s call this one a wash, mmmkay? Sweet.
On an absolutely unrelated-to-not-one-thing-note: we received our wedding pictures! Super excited and can’t wait to share. After a long day, they make me smile …
