Act I: Christmas
This was the first year that I spent Christmas outside of New York City—away from family and friends. Yet, at the same time, here in Charlottesville I was surrounded by family and friends.
My mother came to stay with me for the first two weeks after winter break started. So she was with me on Christmas day. We spent the day cooking together and invited several of my classmates over for dinner. It was a great evening.
And, how can I forget the lights!
Every year for the last five, I’ve taken a trip to either Long Island or New Jersey to see a Christmas lights spectacular (big kid alert). I’m a sucker for fabulous Christmas displays—be it a light show or just an awesomely decorated home. Being the Christmas light aficionado I am, I did my research and found the “Where You Go in Charlottesville to See Christmas Lights” Holy Grail. I found it! I didn’t see all of them (there’s an entire map of homes all across Charlottesville), but I saw enough…enough to—along w/my mom and my friends—make it feel like Christmas. See a few below.
