Alice in Wonderland was one of my favorite books in childhood. At one point, I had a tiny record player. It played small vinyls that contained children’s stories. It was accompanied by the actual storybook (complete w/pictures! Those are still my favorite kind today!). Alice in Wonderland was the best! When the cartoon came I out, I was equally as excited. And, to this day, I still love that story (who is your favorite character)?
Much like the rabbit hole, such is my life right now. Case in point: I have averaged 3 hours of sleep for the past two nights. I was exhausted all day today. I stayed on-grounds until almost midnight working on cases, etc. I knew I had to come in this evening and wash my hair. There was no way I could go one more day w/out doing so. In my estimation, I assumed I would start washing my hair at midnight and finish (washing, braiding, and whatever else I needed to do) by 2 am. Much to my surprise, I was done with my hair by 1:10 am. And here comes the rabbit hole…
I was so excited!!
It was only 1 am! I felt like someone gave me a gift. It was “only” 1 am! It might as well have been 3 PM because I started making all of these plans for things I could do w/my extra hour (because, after all, I projected I would be in bed by 2 am). I could check emails, set-up some meetings, do more reading, write, etc. And that’s the rabbit hole–where all sense of the real world (and TIME) just goes away. For me, it’s perfectly normal to wake up at 6 am, be in class at 8 am, stay on grounds all day (ALL day), leave at midnight, and walk in the house thinking “hmmm, what will I do w/my remaining two hours?”
Ok. It’s almost 2 am.
There…now I can go to sleep in peace.
BTW: I love the Cheshire Cat. No surprise there, huh?
(at least not for those who know me and know of my love of cats. *sniffle*, I miss my Bugsy…)
