In the words of Tony! Toni! Toné!, It’s Our Anniversary! Or, at least, it was.
On Monday I celebrated my one year wedding anniversary. We spent the weekend wine tasting on the North Fork (Saturday) followed by sight seeing and relaxing in Montauk (Sunday). It was a low key weekend but one of the most relaxing I’ve had in a while. In those two days we:
- visited five wineries (tasted everything from red blends to sparkling wines)
- were the exclusive guest in a fantastic one-room B&B (shout-out to Lisa and Anthony at Sannino Bella Vita Vineyard and Bed & Breakfast for an amazing suite and for wonderful service)
- were entertained and protected by the most adorable dog named Maggie (gatekeeper and raccoon thwarter of the vineyard and B&B)
- had a fantastic dinner at Luce & Hawkins in Jamesport
- enjoyed a nice Easter Sunday lunch at a quaint shop in Mattituck
- traveled to the “end of the U.S.” (as I affectionately and dramatically referred to the Montauk Lighthouse)
Weekends like that–getting away from the grind while enjoying some of my favorite things (food, wine, and hospitality)–help to recharge, renew, and reinvigorate. Furthermore, milestones lend themselves to introspection. With those two dynamics at work, we found ourselves reflecting and discussing future plans, goals, and dreams. We revisited previous conversations about hospitality-related ventures with respect to fit, timing, etc…
While there are still no definitive answers on the who/what/when/where/how, we both agreed that we need to start. Somewhere. Anywhere. With…what…is…in…our…hands.
Fast Forward: as we traveled back from Montauk on Monday, I came across an article on the youngest self-made female billionaire on the Forbes list: “Top Five Startup Tips From Spanx Billionaire Sara Blakely.”
What a great read. At a great time. Hope you’re as inspired by it as I was.
And, for your viewing pleasure, here are a few pics from the trip (Ms. Maggie The Bernese Mountain Dog is a must see).
Happy Dreaming, Planning, Living, & Conquering Good People!

Sounds like a nice trip. Tasha and I spent our 1st year anniversary in Montauk as well. Although we were married in the winter – so it was fairly deserted, which actually worked out quite well.
