The National Association of Women MBAs at Darden is an amazing student group here on-grounds. Ok, perhaps I am a little biased because I’m on the leadership team but that’s neither here nor there. (*smile*)
I decided to join the organization (and subsequently serve in a leadership capacity) because the mission is one with which I connect:
NAWMBA’s mission and purpose is to provide members with awareness, resources, support, and a cohesive network. We are drawn together in a common pursuit to promote the interests of professional women.
I have a passion for women’s leadership and development and I’m proud to be a part of an organization taking an active role in those initiatives. NAWMBA hosts quite a few programs and events throughout the school year; traditionally, the lion share of them are held within Q1. So far, members of the leadership team have successfully organized and hosted:
- NAWMBA Welcome Event
- Class Participation Workshop
- Networking Workshop
- Women in Business Dinner (corporate sponsors/attendees included: Accenture, Danaher, Progressive, Target, Deloitte, Deutsche Bank, HarrisWilliams & Co., JPMorgan, BB&T, and M&T Bank)
- First Year/Second Year Potlucks
The remainder of our flagship, yearly events are in Q3 (Women’s Leadership Week and the S.H.E. Auction); we’re looking to add some new programming in Q2 (even if informal) that fosters dialogue around pressing matters women in business face in all stages of life.
I am fortunate and privileged to work with such an outstanding leadership team and I look forward to all that we’ll accomplish this school year!
More to come as the year progresses but, in the meantime, here are some photos from our Welcome Event, WIB Dinner, and one of our potlucks. Enjoy!
