But not after taking this walk of shame…
Yes, it makes absolutely NO sense that my last post was March 17th.
No sense at all.
Especially since SO many awesome—and blog-worthy—things happened in my last quarter at school.
How do I love thee (Darden)? Let me count the ways:
1) Management Leadership for Tomorrow Kick-Off Weekend
2) Wine Tour
3) 21st Annual BBSF Conference (including keynotes by Kim Davis, SVP, JPMC and Bill Strickland, CEO, Manchester Bidwell)
4) NAWMBA Leadership Transition (I’m so long over-due on a post about this it’s not even funny)
5) Foxfield
6) Vicente Fox, Former President of Mexico, visits Darden
7) Finals
8) Start of summer internship
9) And many other things I’m sad as heck about not capturing…
And why?
Aaaaahhhh, these are the things that make life…interesting. Let’s just say energy is finite and, as we learned in physics, the play between potential and kinetic energy is real. And…now that I’ve royally confused most of you w/my cryptic rhetoric, we now return to our regularly scheduled broadcast. 🙂
So, here I sit, in Atlantic City, NJ, finishing up week two of my summer internship.
No, literally, I’m sitting in my office at this very moment…on this awesome Saturday night. And I’m PSYCHED about it.
I’m interning with Harrah’s Entertainment—in their President’s Associate program. I’m working at one of their four properties in Atlantic City, NJ. I have two main projects. One entails me starting and operating a new lounge. I’m responsible for managing the final bit of design and construction, developing a marketing strategy, managing execution of operations, and constructing a playbook for on-going brand execution. Sweet! And the other main project, well if I told you, I’d have to kill you.
In addition to the above, I’m also tasked w/getting an overall understanding of casino operations. So, through the course of the summer, I’ll spend time in everything from table games (I think I’d make a cool pit boss, no?) to hotel operations to get a feel of what it takes to run such a comprehensive hospitality and entertainment operation. There’s a lot to do and learn in such a short time-frame (I’m already wrapping up week 2 of 10! Talk about time flying when…)…
So, on that note…I need to cut this short. Can’t catch up on everything in one posting but I promise to follow-up. No, really, I’m back. For real this time. :-p
But for now, time to get back on the casino floor.
(who said MBAs were only good for bean counting…I mean building models. 😮 )
Ciao!
